Static Routing
It is a very useful method of configuring IP routing, Static routing is the path that a packet will take in which it is hard coded on to the router.
Somehow these routes may be entered by someone, they work great for small networks but to difficult for large networks.
Dynamic Routing
is the opposite and these routes are automatically assigned by other routers, Routers communicate and send routes to other neighboring routers, which depends on the routing protocol, Compared to Static routes, dynamic routes are more useful on larger networks.
There are 2 Dynamic Routing protocols that windows 2003 support
- RIP (VERSION 2)
- OSPF
